Virgin borage oil can be used internally (on its own or blended with other oils for
seasoning) or externally (by massage or rubbing)<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Its richness lies in gamma-linolenic acid (~20%), which is said to be essential because it is rarely found in nature and is not synthesized by the body.<\/p>\n

Additional internal and external intake is therefore highly recommended; this fatty acid
essential for maintaining the structure of the cell membrane. As a result, it helps to maintain
skin suppleness and beauty. These fatty acids are essential for the formation and renewal of certain
short-lived regulatory substances (in particular prostaglandin E1) which continuously control

Storage:<\/strong> Borage oil should be stored in its tightly closed bottle, away from light and moisture. It does not oxidize and remains usable for years.<\/p>\n

Precautions : <\/strong><\/p>\n

Do not use in combination with medication.
<\/strong>Several studies and trials have highlighted possible interactions between certain medications and borage oil, particularly anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-coagulant drugs.<\/p>\n

Due to the presence of a very low dose of pyrrolizidine alkaloid (PA), this oil may even prove hepatotoxic in certain cases.<\/p>\n

You should seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking any medication, and avoid long-term consumption of borage oil.<\/p>\n

Borage, whose scientific name is Borago officinalis, is a member of the Boraginaceae family. Originally from Syria, it has become naturalized throughout the Mediterranean region, as well as in North and South America.<\/p>\n

Borage has a long history of use. In the Middle Ages, it was praised for its aphrodisiac, expectorant and diuretic properties. As for the Greeks, they used fresh flowers to perfume their dishes and wines. The leaves, stems and flowers, rich in mucilage, help improve transit.<\/p>\n
