The baobab is one of the most recognizable trees in the African savannah. It is found in most subhumid to semi-arid regions south of the Sahara. The Baobab is the African tree that doesn’t go unnoticed. Not to notice would be to visit Africa with blinders on. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Often wider than it is tall, with root-like branches and largely leafless for much of the year, The baobab, also called by Africans “the magic tree”, “the pharmacist tree”, “the tree of life” or “the upside-down tree”, seems to deserve all these nicknames.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Usually only 14 to 23 meters high, the Baobab is renowned for the gigantic circumference of its trunk, which can reach 38 meters. <\/p>\n

During the rainy season, it produces edible fruit, which is then used to make oil.
